Houping 2006-1 Expedition

Houping Township Wulong County, Chongqing Municipality, China

Background:

Houping is a 40km2 area of limestone. The cave system is characterized by a complicated network of huge abandoned fossil phreas on several different levels and small immature streamways draining to the southwest.

Objectives:

This expedition was primarily focused on Er Wang Dong's active level. Pitches in Qingkou Streamway, the Sea of Holes, Qingkou North, and Kings Cayon were dropped to a complicated interconnected network of seasonally active stream passages.
